Why our hooded towels are special?
There's something about being able to offer your child something of quality that's soft and comforting that makes life easier as they grow in independence - especially as your cosy bath time interactions with your child have turned into, doors slammed, screams of "don't come in" and "can I watch a device in the bath".
So, with the former in mind, we have worked hard on designing and developing this spa like towel, and here's how:
Technical towel info.
Each towel is 550gsm, 100% Turkish micro-cotton, which has a longer loop and a higher loft, this enables a greater absorbency. The cotton used to make the yarn is a long staple cotton, these cotton fibres are softer, stronger and more durable than its shorter fibre relations.
In short: it washes beautifully and gets better with every use. It does take a little longer to dry, but trust us, it's worth it.
The hood
The big hoods are generous but not heavy, made up of a single layer of absorbent towelling, this means the hood can help dry hair and keep the towel on the body - perfectly staying put while brushing teeth, or running down the hall to the bedroom.
The grab handles
Double-thickness, squishy and genuinely satisfying to hold, kids love them. They make wrapping up snug and secure a one-person job, and keeps little hands free enough to carry their (inevitably discarded) clothes back to their room. Or at least ready to be dumped on the floor somewhere nearby.
Toggle close
Because independence means nothing if the towel keeps falling off. A simple toggle keeps everything in place, it's open at the bottom, not like a dressing gown, but absolutely like a cape.
FAQ's
What age/size are the towels designed for?
Our hooded towels are designed for children aged from 4 to 13 years old, so they are a versatile children’ towels - unlike baby hooded towels that they can quickly outgrow, or even a standard adult towels that swamp smaller kids.
Our towels are sized to genuinely fit and function for primary school aged, and early secondary school aged children. Big enough to wrap around comfortably.
Will it fit my child as they grow, or do I need to size up?
How big is the hood and will it actually stay on?
How do I wash the hooded towel to keep it soft?
Can my child use it independently, or do they need help?
That's exactly what we designed it for. The grab handles make it easy for children to wrap the towel around themselves and hold it securely in place with no adult assistance needed. The toggle then keeps everything together so there's no awkward towel-dropping mid-teeth-brush.
The hood is lightweight enough that it won't feel cumbersome, and generous enough to actually stay put, meaning even the most fiercely independent bathroom-locker can go from bath to dry to dressed without needing to open that door.
So whether your child is five and just starting to find their feet, or ten and independent then this towel works with them.
Why Turkish cotton specifically and what makes it different?
Why does the GSM of a towel matter, and will my child actually notice?
GSM stands for grams per square metre, that’s how they measure how thick and dense a towel is. The higher the number, the more fabric packed in, and the more plush and absorbent the result.
Most towels you'll find in supermarkets or budget ranges sit around 300–400gsm. They'll do the job, but they tend to feel thinner, dry less effectively and lose their softness fairly quickly after repeated washing.
At 550gsm, our hooded towels sit in what's considered the premium range, it's the kind of weight you'd expect from a good hotel or spa. That extra density means more loops of cotton to absorb water quickly, a noticeably thicker and cosier feel against the skin, and a towel that holds up wash after wash without going flat or scratchy.
For a child who's likes their bathroom independence, it also means they can dry off properly without much effort, no frantic rubbing required.
Our children have now being using our own hooded towels for 4 years and its still beautifully soft.
